Really like this game. If you are trying to play anything but an online mode, this game is not really worth it as EA only cares about the online features and making money off HUT. For Be A Pro: -After playing many seasons in the CHL, your player’s progress will be wiped as soon as you enter the NHL -Your GM will end up ditching everyone good on your NHL team in a few years, you will most likely be surrounded by players rated in the 60s and 70s and they wont re-sign anymore.

Makes be a pro pretty much unplayable -Your player will constantly get taken off for a shift with a faceoff no matter how long you have been on the ice or even if you are a 1st line player for like 10 seconds -Try asking for a trade? You either have no value or are too valuable. Not good enough for the NHL, you get sent down. Be a GM: -CPU teams will constantly make trades for a bunch of garbage, drop a superstar to waivers, and then the other team will instantly pick them up on waivers -You can’t realistically do a fantasy draft as the computer teams will not take any of the prospects.

This year EA finally decided to step up their NHL franchise by implementing a plethora of new features and adjusting the physics of the game. My person favorite game mode Hockey Ultimate Team has been updated, making it almost unrecognizable this is not a bad thing the new features were added to give it a more realistic feel from the picking of the team to what you are able to do.

My personal favorite update is letting the computer auto-organize your team saving you countless hours because the computer will pick the best overall team while also taking into account how well the players will play with each other. Most of the other game modes from what I have played are the same and is completely fine with me since if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Now onto the my favorite improvement on the NHL franchise and that is how much the skating physics have been improved since last years edition.

Skating is a game changer and is in no way the same as last years. I clearly remember last year when skating you could turn on a dime and do endless ‘s but no this is impossible because skaters actually react to how you would on real ice. Stopping is delayed since you have to dig in and when going full speed you cannot turn very well or you will lose your edge.

With this addition it just adds to the realism of NHL which is something i want when playing a hockey game. Overall if you are on the edge about buying this game I highly recommended you buy it and play it a few games before deciding if it is any good because at first I was a little skeptical but now I love the game more than last years and I LOVED last years.

They have every detail in the game I’d have hoped for. Perhaps some of the elite players look more like who they are meant to be than some of the lesser players People have marked this down for the controls and I do get where they are coming from. Poke checking seems to result in a penalty too often. I also give away a lot of penalties swinging a wrist shot at a pass in front of goal. If you miss the puck and your stick comes up you get done for slashing most of the time which is annoying.

As a result of this, I use the B button for a lot more than I ought to. I have the top 10 hitters in the NHL by a mile because I only body check and rarely poke check! I spend a lot of time swearing that I am shorthanded just because I took a couple of erratic swings at the puck from in front of the goal. For me though, those controls don’t make me want to mark it down. I get great enjoyment out of this game, perhaps because I have no other versions to compare this to apart from NHL96 which was a while ago now!
